In this course we explore some key themes of political theory and modern political life by examining six films alongside theoretical texts. The course is broken up into three units: place, relations, and transformation. ******Some questions that we ask ourselves: What can stories about place and belonging teach us about broader political themes of citizenship, the nation-state, and identity? What can stories about relations teach us about race, class, and labor? What can stories about transformation teach us about the different political possibilities (or lack thereof) in our world (or worlds)?
